We had a wonderful walking tour in Yerevan! I came to Armenia with my wife and 9-year-old. Our guide was Grigor Baghdagulyan, who amazingly introduced everything about main attractions in Yerevan, in such a way that it was interesting both to us and to the kid. We especially liked Cascade!

After spending couple of days in sunny Yerevan, and yes it is sunny, like all the time, we also went to amazing Garni with our local Tatev, that we found with the help of Localz. Tatev took us to a local guy’s house in Garni, where we participated in the process baking lavash (traditional Armenian bread) and later ate it with traditional Armenian barbeque. You just have to taste it to believe how awesome it tastes !

Whenever you are in Yerevan get a guide to take you to Tatev Monastery. It is a great experience to know how the old Armenian locals practiced their traditions, way of life, beliefs and culture. Having a guide is necessary, since there are a lot of details that they need to tell you.

Transportation
Visitors to Yerevan have couple of options to go around the city using public transportation. There are some buses and minivans (locals call these Marshutkas), which will take you about anywhere in Yerevan and cost only 100 AMD. There is also an underground subway, but does not have a lot of stations. The ticket for it also costs 100 AMD and you can get it at every station. As an alternative you can always take taxis, which you can find anywhere in the city or just use Uber-like Armenian service called GG. Going around the city center by taxi will cost you 1000 on average.
